Donald Carruthers

Donald was born in Dumfries and has spent most of his working life there. Donald is a tenant of Wheatley Homes South.

He worked for 35 years for the local authority covering the Dumfries and Galloway area. His role was Principal Officer within the authorities’ financial sector, managing four teams across the region, with responsibilities that included local taxation (council tax and business rates) and state benefits administration. Latterly, his role expanded to manage the council’s 24-hour call centre and the social work care call emergency service.

He is now retired, after taking early retirement from the local authority. His hobbies include watching football and he is the Treasurer/ Secretary of a local car club.
