Annan regeneration set to start
Work on a new £12.3 million housing development is set to start in Annan next week.

Wheatley is building 46 new affordable homes to in the Newington area of the town.
The development, delivered by Wheatley in partnership with the JR Group, forms part of the community-led regeneration of Newington and will replace outdated homes with modern, energy-efficient properties designed to meet local housing needs.
The new development will include a block of 17 homes managed by Wheatley's Livingwell service, which helps people aged 55 and over live independently in their own homes while having access to support, wellbeing activities and opportunities to socialise.
All 46 homes will be built using low-carbon technologies, including solar panels, energy-efficient heating systems and high levels of insulation to help keep energy bills down for tenants.
Work is set to begin on the site on Monday, 12 October. Tenants are expected to start to move into the new homes towards the end of 2027, with a full site completion by September 2028.
The project is supported by £7.7m from the Scottish Government.
Alex Lamb, Managing Director of Wheatley Homes South, said:
"Starting work on site is a significant milestone for this regeneration and for the future of Newington.
"These new homes will provide high-quality, energy-efficient housing that reflects what local people told us they wanted to see as part of the regeneration of the area.
"We are grateful to our partners at Dumfries and Galloway Council and to everyone in Annan who took the time to share their views throughout the process. We look forward to seeing these homes take shape and welcoming new tenants in the years ahead."
The regeneration forms part of Wheatley wider investment programme across Dumfries and Galloway, which will see hundreds of new homes delivered across the region.
All Wheatley homes are advertised through Homes4D&G, the common housing register for Dumfries and Galloway.
