Another chance to have your say on new-build proposals at Catherinefield Farm

Residents in Heathhall are being urged to have their say on new-build proposals for unused land at Catherinefield Farm.

Wheatley Homes South is hosting a public event on Thursday 1 February at Heathhall Community Centre in Dumfries. It is the second event hosted by Wheatley, giving the local community another chance to learn more about the proposals.

In 2023, Wheatley Homes South, the region’s largest social landlord, announced ambitious regeneration plans to meet housing demand across Dumfries and Galloway by building 800 affordable new homes across a dozen sites.

Those new build plans include new homes at the site of the former Curries depot, with the first families due to move in shortly.

Alan Glasgow, Managing Director of Wheatley Homes South, said: “It’s important the voice of the local community is heard at every stage of the process as their views and feedback will directly shape and influence the proposals.

“There is a high demand for affordable housing in Dumfries and Galloway and our ambitious new-build plans will go a long way to meeting that and creating a better future for people across the region.

"The event in February is another chance for the local community to meet Wheatley Homes South staff and have their say on the future of the area. We hope to see as many people from the area as possible attend and share their views.”

It was previously revealed that the local economy in Dumfries and Galloway has been boosted by more than £40 million thanks to the massive investment programme by Wheatley Homes South since 2019.

The public meeting takes place at Heathhall Community Centre on Thursday 1 February between 4.30pm and 7pm and follows the previous one held last November.
