The Roads to Success annual art exhibition is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary this summer.

Artist Ian McMonigle is set to put his work in the frame at the exhibition, which is organised by the Contact Point service in Fife, Dunnikier Day Hospital’s occupational therapy department and local artists.

Roads to Success celebrates the role the creative arts play in mental health and wellbeing and gathers together art works and creative writing produced in Fife by people who have experienced mental illness.

Ian’s landscape pictures are among the works of art in the show.

He said: “I’ve been coming to the art groups at Contact Point for years. I enjoy the wee ‘yatter’ with the group – otherwise, I’d be sitting around, not doing much.”

Barony’s care lead Martin Glackin said: “The exhibition is a celebration of the positive impact creativity has on self-esteem and self-confidence, as well as being a showcase for people’s artistic talents and writing skills.”

The theme of the exhibition is 'Beginnings' and it will officially open at the Lochgelly Centre in Fife on 3 May.

The exhibition is being funded by the Wheatley Foundation, the charitable arm of our parent company, Wheatley Group.

This year, the Foundation is also paying for an artist’s day, which will include a percussion workshop and music and refreshments and travel to and from the event.
