Plans for homes for over 55s approved as part of Annan regeneration
Planning has been approved for a block of homes in Annan for people aged 55 and over.

The homes will be built by Wheatley Homes - the region’s largest social landlord – as part of the community-led Annan regeneration.
The block of 17 homes will be managed by Wheatley’s Livingwell service, which helps people 55 and over live independently in their own homes. The service provides a safe and secure environment with support for well-being, social activities, and opportunities to connect with others. It was first launched by Wheatley in Glasgow in 2018.
The Livingwell block forms part of the wider regeneration programme for Annan that would see, subject to funding being secured, a total of 46 new homes built in the town.
Alex Lamb, Managing Director of Wheatley Homes, said:
“The regeneration is part of our drive to modernise and improve communities here in Annan and across Dumfries and Galloway by replacing old and unpopular homes with new and energy-efficient homes.
“We are grateful to our partners at Dumfries and Galloway Council as well as the many people in Annan who took the time to engage with us and share their views on what they want to see form part of the regeneration – that included the need for homes for those aged 55 and over.
“We look forward to being able to deliver these homes and help meet the needs of the local community.”
The work in Newington in Annan forms part of Wheatley Homes South’s regeneration plans for the region, which with the support of grant funding, will see hundreds of new homes built across Dumfries and Galloway. All these new homes feature low-carbon technologies, including solar panels, energy-efficient heating, and high levels of insulation.
In addition to investment in building new homes, Wheatley Homes has previously announced that it will invest £39 million in improving homes and neighbourhoods across the region. This includes £10.9m being spent in Annandale, with £14m in Nithsdale; £4.8m in the Stewartry, and £9.4m in Wigtownshire.
All Wheatley homes are advertised on www.myhousing.org.uk, Wheatley Group’s housing information, advice and letting service.
